![]() ![]() This bat does have the ability to poison you, but has relatively low health and is not a threat. If you die to fall damage, your salt will take the form of a bat, which you’ll need to kill to regain your salt. It’s easy to tell which enemy has your salt, as they will gain a smoky white aura. If you are killed by an enemy, they will ‘pick up’ your salt, and you’ll have to kill them to regain it. The same is true here, though with slight modifications to the traditional formula. If you die before retrieving it, it will be lost forever. One of the key staples of the ‘souls-like’ genre is that upon death, any experience points used to upgrade your character – referred to as ‘salt’ in this game – will remain at the point where you died, until you can retrieve it. When you die, it’s not the end of the world Here’s a list of all the things I’ve learned from my time with Salt and Sanctuary. There’s an impressive amount of depth here, and whilst you could learn through painstaking trial and error, you’ll be better served if you understand what you’re dealing with, when you deal with it. If you’re new to the ‘souls-like’ genre entirely, then things may seem a little confusing, or at the least, there’ll be more to the game than you might realise. If you’ve come from the Souls games, then a lot of it will be familiar concepts with different names. 12th run is turning out to wear the Raider armour/sheild and using axes/hammers starting to feel the same lack of uniqueness the others had though.Salt and Sanctuary is a game that you learn, not one that you understand going in. In the Order of the Three for no real reason.ġ2th serious run is currently in progress had a couple other characters in between but couldn't find the same spark of fun as I did with all previous runs. Deleted him when I got stuck on the witch of the lake could not do enough damage to matter to her.ġ0th run I took the Iron Rampart and upgraded it till it could block everything and made the character wear the titan set and use the Obsidian pillar (basically midget Armour Guardian) I loooooooove that sheild. It would also be nice if when I choose an "Oar only" or "Pot only" run I can still block with a sheild, I didn't select no blocking. Then my 9th run was a "boat man" run where I aimed to get the boatman set of armor while using the Oar Only modifier, it would be nice to have the oar ingame somewhere besides as an "Only use this" mode. In Devara's Light.Ĩth run I went another mage with the intention of using a hybrid of heavy and light armor, using sword whips for the first time, and using the Order of betrayers special magic spells, unfortunately the characters development is so scattered he's hard to play due to low stats in all area's and no real significant damage dealing power. Ended up dropping that and went Order of Betrayer with 2h swords, endgame wearing Carsejaw's boots/gloves/helmet with the grim justacorpse, and Carsejaw's greatsword.ħth run was Dagger/Pistol, Wearing Bloodbrow boots/body, assassins gloves, and Yokai mask, with a cool swept strawberry blonde hairdo. Half way through cook run I went back to my true first character who I wanted to give an ernest shot at using crossbows but found them to be rather weak and clumsy as well as whips, wanted to be Hunter esq. Using the Trinity Bardiche and uhh, the sword you make with Skougrzhes horn. Wearing the crimson hood/gloves/legs and the Predator chest (the Hornet Steel armor) In the Order of Fire and Skyĥth was the cook run, pure cookery, I didn't do iron pot only cause I also wanted to use the rusted great ladle since it is also culinary equipment :p Ended up turning her into a legit character though, joined the house of Splendor and wearing the Resplendant Chest and the Stella legs/gloves and the queen of smiles crown, with awesome red dreadlocks. Started woodswraith ended as the House of SplendorĤth was my pure mage, she started using maces and stuff but dropped bothering to use them when the magic really started hitting like a truck. In the Order of the Threeģrd guy was an archer with dagger and sheildbackup, kinda looks like Danny from gamegrumps so I made his sheild the Clerics sheild since it kind of has a Deku Sheild look to it, wearin the Raptor body/boots and the hunter hat/gloves. Had to pick up using great axes in NG+ for bosses resistant to strike damage. In the Mountain Smith creedĢnd Character was a Light armoured priest using war hammers, wearing the monk robe top & the bottom arms and crown of the queen of smiles, with a sheild for 1 handing the war hammer. Hard to say I've done 10+ different characters with mostly unique play styles.įirst real play I did a guy in heavy armour and using Reapers, endgame had the Tainted armour + Pumpkin Helmet with sword/sheild backup. ![]()
